Everyone is an artist of some kind, and HPA believes in awakening the artist within! One of the best ways to encourage artistic development is through exposure to a wide variety of
art mediums, as well as the exploration of various techniques and applications.

Visual art education strengthens student problem solving and critical thinking skills adding to the
overall academic achievement, school success, and preparation for the work world.

Students are introduced to the elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, value, form, space) and principles of design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, unity).

Students learn to apply the elements and principles in order to evaluate, analyze and interpret art through the ages, using the elements and principles in the creation of their own take-home “masterpieces”; that will be displayed in our end-of-the-semester art gallery and performance showcase.

The course will study project planning and design, wood and wood products, safe operation of hand and power tools, and joinery techniques while creating individual and group projects.

An introduction to the principles, and practice, of accounting. Emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of recording, adjusting, analyzing, and reporting financial information in
accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Students will receive individualized instruction in Math and Creative Writing.

Explore engineering concepts to improve problems solving skills. Follow step-by-step instructions and work in groups to design a variety of interactive LEGO® devices. Projects are themed as small fun devices that teach core engineering concepts such as levers, motion, gears and energy transfer.

This program empowers the youth to create their own business. Learning the core concepts of business design and development will give the youth knowledge and will give students opportunities to sell their creations, practice pitching, and refine their product and pricing.
